Q. Why do I get an error when starting c64psp?

A. Check that c64psp is installed correctly. For firmware 1.5 users, you should have installed two folders on your memorystick /PSPGAME/c64psp___1 and /PSP/GAME/c64psp~1. The folders are so named to prevent the “corrupted” icon appearing in the PSP browser.

Q. Why do no games appear on the image selection screen?

A. c64psp only supports T64 and D64 files which should be stored in the /PSP/C64ROMS folder. c64psp does not come with any images installed. They can be downloaded from many C64 and emulation sites on the internet.

Q. My D64 file contains many games, but Autoload only loads the first. How can I load the others?

A. After selecting which image to load, press L to return to the emulator. The standard C64 disk commands (e.g. LOAD”$”,8 and LIST for directory listing) can be entered using the Virtual Keyboard. Enter LOAD”game name”,8 to load the desired game.

Q. Hey! My favourite game doesn’t work! What gives?!

A. c64psp is a PSP port of the Frodo C64 emulator. As such, any game that works on FrodoPC (which has slightly better emulation than the plain version) should work on c64psp.

If the game still does not work, you should try to find an alternative image. Sometimes the techniques used by crackers in trainers and intros upset the emulator.

Q. Why on earth did you port Frodo? Frodo sucks! You should have ported VICE! VICE rocks!

A. c64psp began life as an experiment to learn how to program the PSP. No PSP C64 emulators existed at the time and the Frodo source code appeared to have a gentler learning curve. A PSP port of VICE is also in progress. Both emulators have their plus and minus points, so why not try both?
